Wow! What a week! I just got home from the Sweet Adelines International Competition! I sing with Top of the Rock Chorus. We were singing with the big girls this time. Our chorus is relatively small.  There were about 52 of us on stage. The 1st place chorus, the Melodeers, were FABULOUS with about 150 on stage! Here is a picture of us during our show this summer. No picture taking at International. We did, however, wear the same black and silver costumes at contest.

What a great time.

We laughed during the quartet finals when Remix sang their hilarious set! (They are from Sweden. If you click the link it is all in Swedish!)

We cried hearing about the loss and devastation from the Christchurch City Chorus from New Zealand.

We saw the future of our organization when the fabulous young quartet, Love Notes from California, came in 4th in the quartet finals!

We celebrated with one of our new friends from Colorado, Velvet Hills.

It was loads of fun! A truly international sisterhood.

We also ate while we were there!

Our chorus stayed in the convention hotel. Convention hotel food tends to be a little pricey, so I ventured out with Mom and Dad to The Shops at Houston Center just a few blocks from the hotel. One place we liked was Potbelly Sandwich Works.

We went there three or four times. They had yummy breakfast sandwiches and a humongous cup of coffee for under $5.  I felt like this was a steal compared to the $18 breakfast buffet at the hotel.

There was another great restaurant just across from Potbelly called Treebeards.

This place was soooo yummy! Mom and I split the Wednesday pot roast special. It came with roasted carrots, homemade mashed potatoes, and steamed broccoli. Oh, to die for—especially when you have been eating junk for a couple of days.

One night a few of us went all swanky and ate at  Damian’s.

I had the Spaghetti Carbonara. It was delish!

Now it’s back to the grind. I have my third load of laundry ready to go into the dryer.

I wonder what we will have for dinner—maybe pork chops!
